  • 01/20/1953 – Inauguration of Dwight D. Eisenhower
  • 05/10/1953 – My 1st Communion. St. John’s Orphanage, KY. I retain a small “Remembrance of my First Holy Communion” pamphlet, written in by my Mother. In her hand it states that she was present.
  • 07/01/1953 – Move to Ocala, Florida about this date; Joanie Tolar accompanies us to help Mother. She later abandons us, Mother later states that she came along under false pretenses so that she could escape from a problem with the law.
  • 10/29/1983 – Dad dies in Yokohama. Japan. His obituary states: “Haydu served 3 1/2 years with the Army during World War 2 and was recalled to active duty 11 months ago, one month after he and his wife, Capt. Gladys B. Haydu, a nurse with the U.S. Army, were married.” I have photographs taken at his funeral.
