- 01/01/1981 – Ask Linda Bass for a date. We dated until 11/1/1984.
- 02/18/1981 – King Passes. Trip to Miami for funeral, leavingĀ on 2/19/1981. Stay with Cari & Pat thru 02/24/1981. This was a very trying experience due to my brother Henry’s behavior. The details are in a short diary that I wrote at the time and retain. We buried King with dignity next to his Father. I loved them both.
- 02/26/1981 – Pat visits thru 03/01/1981
- 03/23/1981 – Resign position as Manager at AAA and return to the Technical ranks, forever
- 03/30/1981 – Pat starts mechanic school
- 04/14/1981 – Space Shuttle #1 lands. Almost cost me my job as the nasty boss I had also scheduled a staff meeting at the same time and I refused to attend until after the landing. I was late & he never got over it.

- 05/24/1981 – Visit Arlington Cemetery with Linda Bass and see my Father’s grave site for the first time
- 06/02/1981 – Jim Bussey visit & trip into DC

- 06/17/1981 – Alex graduates from Kindergarden
- 07/03/1981 – Vacation with children to Tennessee. Return on 7/12/1981
- 07/14/1981 – Spent 5 days doing personal research at the Library of Congress
- 08/12/1981 – Saw “Raiders of the Lost Ark”
- 08/22/1981 – Diane Swann is married
- 09/13/1981 – 10 years with the AAA
- 11/26/1981 – Thanksgiving at the Guido’s
